Modern technology & history
Panels & Castles
As part of the project, informational signs are being installed in the immediate vicinity of selected historical monuments; these signs feature a contour map displayed on a glass panel.
The map shows the historical appearance of the monuments in question and is located at a spot that provides a view of the monument’s current state. The historical and current views thus overlap. The sign will also feature a 3D model of the monument.
The table will also incorporate smart features such as a visitor counter and a solar charger. In the case of signs located near bike paths, this also includes basic tools for bicycle repair. The final and exact design of the sign is being developed as part of a project taking place at the TnUAD FabLab Creative Center, which is fully equipped with technical instruments and is capable of designing, test, and manufacture the sign.
Increased visitor interest
Social and Economic Impact
The panels are primarily a visual element, supplemented by a 3D model, which makes them interesting for children and people with visual impairments (who can touch the 3D model), and in many cases, they are planned to be placed in easily accessible locations that can be reached without having to walk very far.
Although there is no significant language barrier between Slovakia and the Czech Republic, the younger generation is facing an increasing problem with understanding the other language. We therefore chose a primarily visual design for the signs , which visitors can understand without needing to know a foreign language.
Placing signs in these locations will increase visitor interest and the amount of time visitors spend there, which will also benefit other businesses operating in the area (such as restaurants and other dining establishments).
